Now that you have an idea about how to optimize your thinking it is time to use this knowledge to visualise what you really want. But what exactly is that you want? Ok, first let’s talk about money.
About becoming rich
If you ask people what they ideally would like if they can’t have it all, would be money or be rich. However if you dig deeper beneath the surface you realize that money isn’t the issue, it’s what actually this money brings. Funky Success people are those who money doesn’t really affect, they always have enough for everything they need. For them money is just another tool.
The real issue is that most of the success and finance books out there, focus on hard work , on long term and persistence. I think this may still apply in today’s world, but are they really the top quality to generate enough income to travel the world. I doubt it.
Finding your passion.
You need to be find your passion or passions. The best approach is to actually try as many experiences as you can until you find the one that best fit you. For some they knew it since they were a kid, for others it took them sometimes 30 or 50 years to find it. Don’t worry if you didn’t find it, keep looking for it. And even if you actually found what you are looking for, keep stimulating yourself as you may find something more appealing. Especially today, in this world of infinite possibility, there must be something that best fit yourself.
Once you have your passion, you may concentrate on your vision. What would be you ultimate reality. A good question you should constantly ask yourself is if you could have it all do it all, anything at all, what would you have, what would you be. Keep in mind, that this process of visualising should be so intense, that you can view, feel it and know exactly all the details.
Visualising is creating . Therefore the more effort you put here, the easier it will be on the implementation as you will feel that you are doing the same thing again.
About Leadership
“You must be the change you see in the world” Gandhi
True leadership can only be by example. That is why that most of the managers out there are not true leaders. They don’t have a vision, they don’t where they are heading. So how can they influence or motivate the troops? They cannot, unless by using fear. Which is not leadership but dictarshop. Not once so far in my carrer, did I met a true leader a my boss. They never made me feel the importance of our tasksm how if fitted in the big picture. The only response is the you need to do it because that is your job. Therefore most employees need to find their own purpose and vision, which in my case lead to another job, but eventually to become own boss. I have vision and hopefully it is clear and bright enough for your to follow it.
Purple Cow and the importance of being remarkable
Seth Godin might be my most respectable marketing mentor. And nothing to do what they teach you in business School. Indeed as with mu classes of entrepreneurship, in my marketing classes I never felt that nor the teachers nor the material has something remarkable as you learn pretty much as all the other colleges and universities. So where is you competitive advantage (they just love those words in business schools for some reasons).
It is not until I start reading Seth Godin’s book, that I started to realize what marketing is really about and how is affect you business, it should be your business, from your product to your sales copy on your newsletter. One of the first Seth book, that I stumble upon (how come if wasn’t on the program?) was the Purple Cow. From the definition of remarkable, the book title alone is worth making a remark. And that how your muse is supposed to be, a product, a service or and idea that it is worth noticing and commenting on,
What Seth Godin actually says is that your business, in today’s world (and even more now then a couple of years before when the book was first written) needs to be “remarkable”. Being the best in an industry was once more then enough to succeed but it is definitely not the case any more. Being very good is ok, but will that make you remarkable, will that make anybody remember you or come back? Unless you are one of those big players that had the chance to build their business empires in the last century using traditional marketing, you will really struggle to survive. Being remarkable does mean you need to risk a lot , but as he explains throughout the book playing risky is actually your safest bet.
The Purple cow, which is the latest P of the marketing mix (and I remember from my marketing class that there are only 4 Ps) is not an option anymore and became a necessity in our very competitive economy.
I would also like to draw the parallel with the funky success lifestyle. From its own definition, Funky Success is a purple cow. It might employ many techniques of traditional success but all of its force is taken from creating something unique and clearly remarkable. Money as a single ingredient is not enough. A need of so much other ingredients is necessary , such as outside the box thinking, lifestyle design, creativity, world travelling…just to name a few. But once again, with Funky Success, the actual recipe is entirely yours, it is planed, designed and implemented by its author and therefore have so much more chances to be remarkable if you are.
It is also important to notice that a disadvantage might be turned into a purple cow with a little bit of creativity. What I mean by that is, being raised on Canadian soil, my long east European name became a purple cow on its own. Yes, at the beginning I spent a lot of tough moment, because of the difficulties of spelling and pronunciation, not to mention how mean the kids can be. But what happened is that it almost always created discussion, something to talk about. Therefore most of the people that I’ve met remembered me, just because my name was remarkable. Now hopefully after first publishing this book the readers will remember me as someone remarkable, as someone living funky success
