In order to be the most effective in your actions, you need to focus on those that produce results and just forget about the other. If you would have only 5 minutes to do something, what would you do and how would you do it. Maybe delegating and outsourcing is the solutions.
The power of the habits

Applying focused action once, for a day or a couple of days, is good, but what you should really look if you want to create a difference in life, is to create a habit. You want to write a book….there is nothing that will replace the habit of writing on a daily basis. You want to run marathons…once again there is nothing as powerful as the habit of running every day.
A habit is an action or series of actions that you completed for at least 20 days in row and which become a natural and almost effortless thing to do the next day. The objective is to make this routine a subconscious program in you mind. You don’t really think about cleaning your teeth’s, do you? But it is something that you do everyday, couple of times a day, without real pain involve. It is simply a habit, it is coded.
Now that you know the importance of habits, let’s talk about the facts. Why do most of your resolutions or habit plans fail? The simple reason, is that you never gave them the chance, you never start doing it. The important thing is that you need to motivate yourself to start and then it should flow by itself. So why didn’t you start then? Or maybe you did, but after 3 days or a week, it was all over. Basically, before you start doing the habit, you mind will ask if it’s painful or it is enjoyable. The issue the any forced action, even if it’s a real passion of yours, will be associated with pain. So you got pain on one side and you got joy or less pain associated with doing nothing on the other. You can force yourself to start the painful activity and convince yourself that is always enjoyable, but how long can you continue? Enough to make it a habit. What I’m proposing, and this is where the power of you Vision and all the feeling associated with it comes in handy, is to have not doing activity more painful then doing it. In order to do so, it is imperative that you are driven by your vision, and that this is your optimal goal, and anything that will take you out of the path of obtaining your desire goal will be associated with pain. Naturally, we are build this way to avoid pain, so it will be a much easier task with a much higher success rate.
Other tips taken from Leo’s Power of Less Book are
- Start with a really small activity both in duration and challenge level. In stead of having to write a chapter everyday, or run for 20 minutes, start with only 500 words or exercise for 5 minutes. Starting low and improving everyday will not only help you to easily start at the beginning (as you will perceive that the task at hand is so easy to accomplish) but you will also feel accomplish as days progress (as you can held more and more).
- Another tip is to be as precise as possible. Do not say, I need to exercise, but instead stay I need to jog for 5 minutes around my block). Make it measurable.
- Share your habits objectives with other open minded people. Research has proved that if you a public committed it will increase your chance to achieve your habit.
The importance of immersion
The best way to learn a language, a sport, or pretty much anything is to immerse yourself. Therefore to successfully implement you plan and create the muse, you need to immerse yourself in the development. Just like some bands, that go out of town, and immerse themselves into composing in order to produce an album. Some might think that it takes a year of even more to complete such a huge project, but the reality is, the shorter you time span, the more result oriented you will be. You need to be in state of mind that every minute counts and nothing can be waste it.
The importance of deadlines
From experience I remember back in school, when I had to deliver final assignments. Even if those where assign way in advance, sometimes 2 weeks or even a month, I was only the most effective couple of days and even a day before the delivery date. Another example is the ability for all of the students to produce a paper in only 4 hour of more or less the same length and quality , then when they have as a home assignment. Why is that happening? The reason is simple. You don’t think the same way when you have a week to do something then when you have an hour. Imagine now you have 15 minutes. You prioritize, you focus on the essential, on what gives you the most result, and just forget about the rest. That is why, if you work with a deadline, a short deadline, you will be more productive.
The power of stretching
I made a habit of stretching my muscles everyday. If only for 5 minutes. The same way as it is so beneficial for you muscle, repeatedly keeping stretching yourself in real life, will produce outstanding results. The more you will do it and the more it will become easy and you will appear answers and solutions from nowhere. Stretching yourself is the little difference that will make a huge difference at the end of the line. Stretching is being able to go the extra mile even if you are tired, but it especially mean finding a new solution where there seem to be nothing but problems. This will also require for you to think differently, to be able to think outside the box and bring answer that my be unconventional but which bring results. Once again your focus should only be on results, and the number will come out. The more you will stretch, the more results you will bring to the able and will have a competitive edge.
